HOORNAGROFISH exists to serve as a comprehensive resource for agricultural and Fisheries reforms and innovations in Somalia. The importance of agriculture and fishing in the country´s economy is crucial. There have been many problems in the past (some persist until these days) with the security of having enough food to satisfy the needs of a growing country in terms of population.

One of the main objectives of the HORNAGROFISH is to create a production chain that is both, profitable and a boost for production in a nation-wide spectrum through helping small farmers with fertilizers and good farming practices And also provide fishing nets with fishermen.

Somalia’s agricultural sector is the backbone of the economy, contributing to over 70 percent of total GDP, 80 percent of its employment, and about 50 percent of its exports.  The country has over 8.9M hectares of arable land. The country also has two major rivers stretching over 2,500KM.Its rich soils, particularly in the riverine areas, support the year-round production of cereals, pulses, vegetables, and fruit, among other agricultural products, fostering informed decision-making and promoting sustainable agricultural development. Major exports include sesame and dried lemons and substantial forestry products, such as gums and resins, to major global destinations.
